At approximately 1:49 AM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the 2000 block of McLaughlin Drive for a residence on fire in the area. Upon arrival, crews discovered a single-story home with flames visible.
Two occupants were able to escape the hazardous structure, both suffering minor injuries. One occupant was transported to an area hospital for minor burns, while the other occupant was treated for superficial burns at the scene.
The area of origin was discovered in the living room space of the residence. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze without further incident.
The home is estimated as a total loss, with an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
