Apartment Fire at Knollwood Apartments

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to Knollwood Apartments (at approximately 3:57 PM. Callers reported an apartment on fire on the complex.

Engine 6 arrived to discover a 2-story apartment building with heavy smoke visible from the roof. Fire scene operations were established, and suppression teams entered the structure to begin the initial fire attack.

At 4:10 PM, Incident Command requested a 2nd-alarm response to the scene. While additional units were en route, search and rescue teams swept through the structure, confirming all residents were evacuated safely.

Incident Command confirmed that the fire was under control at 4:21, cancelling the responding 2nd-alarm units.

Four apartment units were involved in the incident, with 2 upstairs units sustaining flame, smoke, and water damage, while the 2 units downstairs suffered significant water damage. Four families have been displaced as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
