MFRD crews responded to the 1000 block of Imperial Ct, just after 11:00 AM. 911 dispatch received reports of a residence in fire in the area. 

Firefighters arrived to discover a 2-story residence with visible flames and smoke at the front door and through the roof at the rear of the residence.

Two occupants were inside at the time the fire started; one occupant self-evacuated without incident, while a disabled, wheelchair-bound occupant was helped to safety by an off-duty Saraland Police officer and former MFRD firefighter who happened to be passing through the area, when he noticed smoke over the hill.

Thankfully, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. The residence sustained significant damage from fire, smoke, and water. Damage assessments are being conducted.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, pending further investigation.
