
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department proud recognizes Public Safety Dispatcher II Bessie Brown as the Non-Sworn Employee of the Quarter.
PSD II Brown joined the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Communications Division in July of 2019, and she has maintained a career defined by steadfast, faithful service ever since.
Having her leadership and technical competence recognized, Brown was promoted to PSD II on January 25, 2025. She consistently excels in all facets of communications operations and serves as the designated phone trainer for her shift. Her impact as an educator is evident in those that she directly trained maintaining excellent marks in quality assurance.
Bessie is the quintessential unsung hero of our Communications Division. From high-stress childbirths to critical cardiac arrest situations, she has calmly and skillfully worked on some of the most difficult calls a dispatcher can face. Despite the gravity of these incidents and her skillful execution, she has never been formally recognized, nor has she ever sought the spotlight. She is a highly stable, reliable, and disciplined professional who is entirely focused on the mission and the safety of our citizens.
PSD II Brown’s sustained excellence and quiet dedication embody the very highest standards of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, making her uniquely deserving of this honor.
