Our Mission, Vision, and Values

Our mission is to drive connection between the City of Mobile's departments, partners, and residents — turning what the City is doing into what every Mobilian knows, can use, and can help shape.

Our vision is a Mobile where every resident, in every district, has a direct line to their city government — and the City has a direct line back.

Values

  • Presence — We show up where residents already are, on a recurring basis.
  • Evidence — Every program reports real numbers, not just narrative updates.
  • Follow-Through — Every cohort, every event, every partnership has a next step attached. Nothing ends at the ceremony.

How We Work

Community Affairs operates through three connected pillars:

  • Connect — C251 Citizens Academy and C251 GO! give Mobilians a direct, structured path into city government — and a direct path to board, commission, and volunteer roles once they graduate.
  • Show Up — recurring, in-person presence across Mobile's neighborhoods, bringing City services and information directly to residents.
  • Bridge — connecting Mobile's educational institutions, workforce partners, cultural stakeholders, and community organizations with City initiatives and with each other.
