City of Mobile selects Logan Gewin, Jr. as Executive Director of Finance

Mobile, Ala. — The Mobile City Council has confirmed Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis’ appointment of a seasoned financial strategist to serve as the City of Mobile’s Executive Director of Finance.
In accordance with the Zoghby Act, Logan Gewin, Jr. was nominated by Mayor Cheriogotis to serve as the Executive Director of Finance and confirmed by the council during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 14. A key leadership role, this position oversees all the City of Mobile’s financial operations, including revenue, pensions, capital projects, accounting, and procurement.
Gewin is a native Mobilian and experienced financial executive whose work involves both private and public sector entities. His background includes financial strategy, capital planning, accounting, budgeting, controls, reporting, tax, risk management, and organizational leadership. He recently served as Chief Financial Officer of a U.S.-based mining company, and previously worked as an investment banker, advising on debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, and other complex transactions across a range of industries. He has also served in a senior contract finance role in the private sector.
Gewin holds a master’s degree in finance and is a CFA charterholder. A UMS-Wright Preparatory School alumnus, he lives in Mobile and attends Covenant Presbyterian Church.
